Welcome to Year 2!

Hello Dragonflies!

We are looking forward to a fantastic year with you all in Year 2. Each morning we will have lessons in English, Maths and Phonics. In the afternoons, we will explore the wider curriculum, where our first Geography topic will be ‘My World and Me’ followed by ‘Guy Fawkes and The Gunpower Plot’ after half term.

Children will be given a reading book and diary to bring home each day. Please sign their diary each time you listen to them read at home and send this in each day. Diaries will be checked daily with books changed when necessary.

You could support your child at home by:

• Listening to them read as often as possible.
• Joining the library.
• Practice counting in 2, 3, 5 and 10.
• Practice counting to 100.

Our PE day is a Wednesday, so please come to school wearing the right PE Kit.

We would like you read with an adult at home 3 times per week. Children who read 3 times a week will be entered in a half termly reading raffle.
