Year 1 - Butterflies
Welcome to Year 1 Butterflies!
Hi everyone, My name is Mrs Reed and I am looking forward to teaching you in September alongside Miss Elson and Mrs P.
I thought I would tell you a little about myself so you can get to know me. I have a little girl called Grace and a dog named Chester. I love Disney films and my favourite character is Eeyore from ‘Winnie the Pooh’! At the weekends I like to take my little girl swimming and go to the park. I love coffee and the occasional slice of cake!
We are working very hard this week, planning and preparing for you to come to school. We are organising our classrooms and putting new wall displays up. We are organising where you will keep your bags, coat water bottles and putting some of your previous work up around the classroom. But most of all, we are making sure that our classroom is warm, welcoming and safe for you on Wednesday morning.
We will always try to add some pictures and videos of what we get up to in Year 1, so your parents know you are happy and what you are learning about. We will also use dojo to inform you of any information, changes to the school week or any home learning we feel may help you achieve your very best.
PE days are Wednesdays.
Children should read a minimum of 5 times a week at home. Please talk to one of the teachers if you are finding this difficult and we will try to help.
At the end of Y1, all children will take part in the Phonics Screening assessment. Information about this can be found on: Phonics screening check: information for parents - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
