Academy Closure

Due to weather the academy will be closed on Monday 11th December.  We hope to be open on Tuesday 12th December.  We understand that this will present difficulties with childcare for many of you, but we have to assess the safety of the children and staff.  Thank you.

Lichfield Cathedral Christmas Tree

This morning Thomas, Taylor and Evie-May have decorated a Christmas Tree in Lichfield Cathedral – with the help of Mrs Partington!

All the decorations were made by the Year 5s from single use plastic to raise awareness of the damage this can do to marine life.  As you will see from the pictures, they look amazing!

Our tree is one of 50 that will be on display in the Cathedral from this weekend (2nd December) until Twelfth Night in January.  There is a competition for the best tree, so we would ask everyone who can, to visit the Cathedral over the festive period and put a vote in for the Churchfield CE Primary Academy Tree.

Year 3’s Exciting Week

Year 3 have had an exciting week this week.  Here are some of the photos from Wheelchair Basketball, baking for MacMillan and making and finding right-angles.

Churchfield C.E. Primary Academy Launch Day

We have had a lovely day celebrating the conversion to an Academy with St Chad’s Multi-Academy Trust.

The day began with a service led by Father David.  This afternoon we enjoyed a carnival parade, picnic and visit from the local police.  As you will see from the pictures everyone has had a wonderful day in the sunshine and we have uncovered some budding police officers of the future!

To finish the day we planted a magnolia tree in the school grounds to mark the occasion.  After the half-term break we will also be burying a time-capsule with messages from all the children to the future pupils at Churchfield C.E. Primary Academy.

Celebration Assembly

Today we gave out A LOT of awards in Celebration.  There were some Smilie certificates, badges for the Year 5 children who had completed their Bikeability course and certificates for our brilliant Cross-Country runners.  Children who had 100% attendance for the term were awarded a Crème Egg, with an Easter egg for those with 100% attendance for the year to date.

The School Council also chose winners of the Easter Garden competition.  Miss Nickolls and Mr Lloyd were very happy not to have had to make the final decision as the standard was so high!  A HUGE WELL DONE to all the children who made such wonderful creations.  The winners were Hope and Leon from Early Years, Nancy and Evie-Mae from Key Stage 1 and Amelie and Jasmine from Key Stage 2.

We hope that everyone has a relaxing and enjoyable Easter Break.

British Science Week

We have had a lovely time in Nursery this morning experimenting making our own bubble blowers. We used pipe cleaners to make different shapes experimenting to see if it would change the shapes of the bubbles we blew.

Year 1 Planting Bulbs

On Friday the children in Year 1 enjoyed planting a variety of different bulbs.

Children enjoyed being outdoors in the learning area and they investigated any changes to other bulbs planted two weeks earlier.  We look forward to seeing the bulbs flowering in the spring time.

Christmas Carol Service at St Augustines

The carol service is always a highlight of the Christmas period.  It was a lovely service – a great duet by Harry and Grace to start Once in Royal David’s City, wonderful singing by the whole congregation and super readings given by some of our Year 6
